Nearly three years ago Sandra and her husband “took the plunge” and moved lock stock and DOG to Connemara, set up a pottery and showroom on the Westport Road and haven’t looked back. Sandra loved working with wool whilst living in Dublin and enjoyed the process of creating pictures with this tactile medium. But not until she moved to Connemara did she have the opportunity to really explore and experiment. Sandra works with acrylic, watercolour, needle and wet felting mediums, sometimes including mixed media in her felt work to provide memorable impressions of the beautiful Connemara landscape.
Her inspiration comes from the endless variations of colour in Connemara, each day bringing different ideas. The sheep in her “Woolie” pictures are to be found all over Connemara and Sandra is always delighted when her “Woollies” bring a smile to those that see them.
Her pieces are living in the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and throughout Europe. Sandra hopes that each time their owners look at them they remember their time in beautiful Connemara.
